- Hi! We're Jennifer and Alissa, and we work in the Children's area of the Beale Memorial Library in Bakersfield. The library has lots of great events for kids all year round, but we have some extra special stuff going on during our Summer Reading Program! All of our programs are free of charge and open to the whole family. Come and see us for stories, music, arts, crafts, and some very special guests this summer.

Each week of our Children’s Summer Reading program has a fun theme, and next week we are proud to present all things SUPERHERO! Our storytimes this week includes characters like Ladybug Girl, a fearless young superhero; the giant Bad Baby, who is a colossal pain to her heroic big brother; and Max and Pinky, whose imaginations are truly super.
