Announcing the latest arrival
Well, he's finally here. Bryan Andrew Smith born 1/8/09. 7lbs 5oz. 19 1/4 inches. He's just a wonderful baby.
We hope to be making it out to Bakersfield in the next month or so.

I would love to meet some people. New to Bakersfield and in need of some friendly conversation and kids to play with. I have a daughter 21 months, and a son 2 1/2 months. Cheers!

- Like Melissa B said the Northwest and Southwest are the best neighborhoods to live in. We live in the Southwest but we live in an apartment. What state are you guys moving from? As for the playdates go to meetup.com when you move here and become a member. im with that group also.

Melissa Beaty said… - Some good neighborhoods to check out are in the southwest and northwest sides of town. The Northwest is a lot newer and very nice but there is some really nice upper class neighborhoods in the southwest as well. I just moved from the southwest to the northwest in August and I love it. My husband works in the oil fields and he said the fastest commute to lost hills would be from the Northwest. He has to drive about an hour away every day to work as well. There is a couple of different options for play groups you can go to meetup.com to find a local group of stay at home moms that gets together on a regular basis or you can join a mops group at a local church. You don't have to be a part of the church to join they get together once a week or something and all the kids go to the daycare center while the moms get together to talk about parenting and the bible. I have never been but thats what i have been told. There is also a group of moms who take strollers and go on excercise walks together with the kiddos, but there is a fee for that one. - Hi Liz, I have a 3 month old baby boy. He is my first born. I have lived in Bakersfield most of my life and I would be more than happy to help you out with any info. you might need. My sister is also having a baby boy in January! Your little girl is sooo cute! My friends and I go quading and dirt bike riding when we can find the time, so I can give your husband some locations to hit up with his dirt bike. We are very outdoorsy people, so if you want to know where anything fun outdoors is I can help. Hope all is going well with your pregnancy and your move!
